Introduction
RegEx was complicated for me to grasp. The rules associated with RegEx, combined with how it uses alphabets, were complex for me to string together as a code. However, once I got the gist of RegEx, I was on my way to coding.
One of the things I am proud of was helping create the punctuation and quotation mark check, and it identified cases of mistakenly included English punctuation marks in the target text. This code was also modified and used in the Final Fantasy VII simulated remaster project that I speak about on another page on my website.
Identifying
Since Japanese and English punctuations are different, the English marks should not appear in Japanese. For this instance, inputting |\,|“|” in the QA checker in Trados and setting it to search the target text pulls up any English punctuations that remained in the Japanese target text.

Conclusion
RegEx is a handy tool for quality assurance once I overcome the learning curve. I am not an expert at RegEx, but I know that I can use this tool like a pro with enough practice!
